A Word About Assessments
DISC Assessments and reports were borne out of the research of psychologist William Moulton Marston, Ph.D. of Harvard University. Marston's research was refined, enhanced, and validated by Target Training International, Ltd. and its founder, Bill Bonnstetter. Coaching Insight LLC is a licensee of TTI products and reports - Managing For Success™ and Success Insights™ families of DISC assessments - the most thoroughly researched and most reliable DISC reports on the market. Coach Andrea Feinberg is a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst of DISC.
The Assessments’ two dozen questions generate thousands of possible answer combinations, providing almost jaw-dropping accuracy on how people prioritize intangible elements in their work environment (motivated by practicality, money, learning or aesthetics?) or how they’ll respond to a given environment (like risk or avoid it? Like a laid back pace or thrive on challenge? Like to be around people or prefer to work solo?). The resulting comprehensive report can be delivered to you by email in minutes or reviewed in depth with coach Andrea Feinberg while additional coaching for the relevant employee and manager can be scheduled. The result is a discussion describing exactly what to do – or stop doing – to unleash potential and dramatically enhance effectiveness of every member of your staff.
DISC measures only observable behaviors. There are no judgments made and never an assumption of a problem or illness. Through its purely descriptive nature, DISC simply illuminates the ‘big picture’ of a general style of behaving, communicating, responding. This is the “HOW” of us. Another group of reports, PIAV, explains the “WHY” of us – the underlying core beliefs and assumptions we each adhere to which can drive our behaviors.
How is This Valuable to You?
Effective communication provides the foundation for all successful personal and professional relationships. Yet the alarming number of people dissatisfied with their job, career or management skills provides the evidence that none of us is as effective in expressing ourselves or understanding other people as we would like to believe.
The highly researched and validated DISC and PIAV Reports from TTI change that. These instruments lead us to greater understanding of our own behavioral and communication styles as well as help identify the styles of others. When we know more about ourselves, we communicate effectively. When we are better communicators, we succeed.
With PIAV assessments you gain insight into the core beliefs, attitudes and values that guide choices, decisions and preferences. With DISC selections you gain an enormous skill: how to shift your communication or behavioral style to get the best response from employees, prospects, team mates, clients or suppliers.
For example, let’s say you’re working with a newly assembled team and you need to gauge the best person for each task. Most likely, you won’t want to assign a sales role to someone not comfortable around new people. Or, if you knew that one of your team members is a naturally gifted leader, you wouldn’t put her in a research role where these skills are not used. Or, if you could see that another member of your team works best when given specific, clear instructions, you wouldn’t ask that person to ‘just be creative and get it done’. Perhaps that job would be best assigned to the ‘risk taker’ on your team; yet how do you know who that is? DISC reports will tell you.
- If you’re a manager of others TTI Assessments are powerful tools helping you shift behaviors a bit to conform to the communication styles of your staff.
- If your employees or team mates are finding more friction than harmony, the relevant Assessment can supply understanding of others’ styles, perspectives and values – all completely without judgment – that can lead to more productive relationships.
- And, even if you don’t have the opportunity to use the Assessments – maybe you’re meeting a prospect for the first time - we can show you how to interpret behavioral or vocal cues to understand just what behavioral style would put this person quickly at ease and receptive to what you have to say.

How Does it Work?
The DISC behavioral reports describe natural behavioral style (how you intrinsically are in what you consider your natural, relaxed environment) and your adapted behavioral style (how you may be shifting your behaviors to respond to the demands of your workplace). With the Assessments, we can immediately see your strengths and, simultaneously, discover whether they’re not operating fully because you’re trying to ‘fit in’ on the job. With this information, we can resolve the stress or assumptions you’re using that result in a compromised skill set. Or, we can see how others tend to interpret your behaviors – interpretations that may be considerably different from what you intended to convey. Or, we can discover that your natural strengths are not optimized by your current position and responsibilities, suggesting some changes in your business role.
If we apply the power of DISC or PIAV for your employees it will reveal where they need some coaching or skill enhancement to increase their effectiveness for you. Or, we might discover that they’d be more productive if you slightly shifted the way you interact with, respond to, or acknowledge their efforts. And, with these changes, you’ll also discover you and your employees simply feel better about work and the interactions they have as they’ve found the environment or activity that just comes naturally. That, in turn, will have an additional impact on the loyalty and productivity generated for you and your business.
And, if you choose, we can train you to ‘read’ peoples’ behavioral styles and you’ll have a wonderful edge to help put them at ease, engage their attention and interest.
Wouldn’t this be a powerful addition to your sales efforts? Speaking one-on-one with your employees or vendors? Can you see how powerful this could be for your own managers who could discover how to subtly change their style when interacting with each of their direct reports, one-on-one.
